• Job Position – Contractor

Project Description:

Perform translations with the use of Translation tools that fulfill the company’s and clients’ quality requirements, while meeting their required delivery timelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Confirm receipt of the project in a timely manner
• If a JAS is included with the project upfront, then confirm the efforts, deadline, and payment described therein BEFORE starting work on the project;
• contact the Project Manager as soon as possible to negotiate any changes
• Translate content and ensure translation is accurate, relevant, and used appropriately in context
• Be able to work under pressure to fulfill clients’ needs
• Ensure quality standards are met
• Ensure client instructions are followed
• Deliver translation on time, in the format required
• Ensure that a final personal Quality Assessment was done on the work and instructions were followed
• Use client glossary and any other references provided
• Keep consistent translations throughout the project
• Keep confidentiality of information at all times
• Communicate to the Project Manager, clearly and in a timely manner, any updates or queries for resolution
• Archive, organize and backup all information worked on; if instructed to do so, destroy all materials related to the translation project after delivery

Qualifications

• Five-plus years’ experience in translation. ATA certification an advantage
• A university degree or higher. Additional experience in specialized fields is an advantage
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including high-level fluency in both English and target language to transmit information in a clear, accurate and effective manner
• Proficient using Internet software (Web browsers and email)
• Must be able to translate 250 words p. hour, 2,000 words p. day, 10,000 words p. week.
• Proficiency with Translation Memory software – such as Wordfast, MemoQ, SDL Trados, XTM, Across, Xbench, Déjà Vu – preferred
